Free Agency and Common Consent

• The principles of "free agency" and "common consent" are central to our beliefs in the Restoration Church of Jesus Christ. There is no compulsion of any kind. We truly follow the admonition of the Prophet Joseph Smith to "teach them correct principles and allow them to govern themselves."
• Sustaining of revelations received by our leaders, and the sustaining of people in new priesthood offices or callings, is done by the vote of the congregation(s) involved. Whenever possible, these items of business are announced weeks in advance, in order that individuals may discuss, ponder, and pray about the proposals, prior to giving their vote.
• We believe that sustaining votes, without sufficient time to find out the Lord's will on the subject, makes a mockery of the process the Lord intended.
