Augustine reasoned: "God is nearer to the soul than it is to itself."
O Lord, let us look up at those heavens of yours, the work of your hands, the work of your mercy which proclaims you in
time. No man can know his true NAME, his own imperishable name in Light. The soul receives IT from the knowledge by which
You know Yourself. Now we see the Word through the clouds, but then what we shall BE will be made known to us, and it will
be ours to see as IS, all at once, and "in Thy light shall we see light" (Ps. 36:9)
Wood does not change fire into wood but the fire does change wood.
