What's up in the world of Silverblade: January 24, 2000
It's time for action, DVD fans!
You'll note the new icon on my title page and the plea in my scroller: it's time for Star Wars on DVD, and now there's a way for all of us to say so! Click through to the Star Wars on DVD internet petition, and get all your friends to do the same. With any luck we'l get a bare-bones set of Star Wars DVDs sometime this year or next year, with the deluxe special editions after George is done with the prequil trilogy. In the mean time let's all boycott non-DVD Star Wars.

Get more information on the petition at my favorite DVD site, The Digital Bits.

Well it's a new year, and some say it's a new decade in a new century in a new millenium. And who am I to argue with a nice big round number? The world has gone tripple-oh and that's fine with me. The news over the five months since I last updated? Well plenty of video games and DVDs. Hours and hours spent at my fun job at TLA Video. And I've moved again to a new abode. Now I'm residing at:
1062 E Lancaster Ave
Apartment 724
Rosemont, PA 19010-1529
Hopefully I'll send more nifty tidbits after my 28th birthday three days fron now. Have a fun year all!

Happy July 5th people!
Well, the inevitable finally happened, and DIVX died. Star Wars Episode I came out and broke a few records. But the best news these days is, supprisingly, not Star Wars. It's South Park!
If you haven't gone to see the new South Park movie do yourself a favor and see it. Now! It's absolutely the most profane, disgusting and HILARIOUS thing I've seen in ages. I've never actually laughed until I cried before. And when it was over (be sure to watch all the way through the credits) I wished I could go right back in and see it again (even the new Star Wars didn't do that for me.) If you do nothing else to treat yourself for the rest of the year you MUST SEE THIS MOVIE!

Time. I keep loosing my grip on it. I tell myself I should update these pages, but so much is going on that I constantly feel on the verge of having something new and better to add. I've always got some excuse as to why I've not updated yet. I'm waiting to develop pictures. Or I'm waiting until I have some decent art software so I can clean up the look of my page. And I'm working two jons (sort of) while trying to be half of a comfortable domestic couple. So the days turned into weeks, and the weeks into months, and it all seems like a blink of an eye since last November when I was posting information on my Rocky Horror experience.
What's happened in that time?
Amanda, light of my life, has come to work with me at TLA Video here in Bryn Mawr. She's as good a co-worker as she is a girlfriend, and a delight to have around. At the same time I've found myself busy with the added responsibilities of being officially night manager.
The two of us have travelled to California to visit my grandparents Richard and Michey Wheat. Pictures of that event are forthcomming.
I've played plenty of new Nintendo and computer games, the best of which have been The Legend of Zelda: Occarina of Time, Half-Life, and Populous: The Beginning. You should alo be sure to check out the new Quake III test. It's not much of a game (only deathmatch) but it's nice to look at.
Not to mention watching many, many DVDs.
And only eight days, as of this writing, until Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace opens in theaters. Wohoo!
What's up in the world of Silverblade: November 27, 1998
Well. Thanksgiving is over. I'm back from a brief jaunt to Boston. And at last my pictures have come back from the November 13th performance of the ocky Horror Picture Show at Bryn Mawr. So it's time, after several months of silence here ont he 'net, to update my page and show you some of this cool experience. Click here to check out that performamce, and hear the strange tale behind it.
But wait! There's more. As those of you with speakers can hear I'm caught up in Star Wars fever. Yes I've downloaded the trailer for the new movie and watched it over and over and over again. And already I'm planning my paid vacation from my job around a trip to see a certain sci-fi prequel.
As for that job I've mentioned, well I blame that primarily for my lack of free time in the past months to update this page. (Well, that and plain apathy.) I work these days as one of the night managers at TLA Video, a very small chain of video stores in the PA area. When I'm not working my ass off I'm spending time watching copious amounts of free DVD rentals. Life is good.
Other things occupying my time these days are the highly anticipated Zelda for the N-64 (which I don't have, but spend time yearning after having played it n my brother's Nintendo this past week.) And a top scret project for The Bowditch Group, Inc. which should hopefully be revealed early next year.
I hope everybody's having fun, and perhaps someday I'll update these pages again. Maybe. *grin*

In recent months two things have taken up a lot of my time. One is my increasing love for my DVD-ROM. I've got a Creative Labs DVD-ROM Encore installed in my computer right now, and it's a constant thrill to me. (Be advised that this is a finicky machine, and relatively new technology. I've encountered problems with some DVDs from skipping, to freezing and simply not playing, but the majority of DVDs seem to work fine with this device.) You simply wouldn't believe what a difference a Dolby Digital 5.1 (AC-3) soundtrack can make in viewing a film. And every one of the ten DVDs I own so far are letterboxed (as are the vast majority of DVDs over all) so I get a great home theater experience. This is truely the greatest (and most inexpensive) way to set yourself up with a home theater. I can't recommend highly enough that everybody run out and spend the $300 that a DVD-ROM costs, if you don't have one preinstalled in your computer already. Oh, and invest in a Dolby Digital capable surround system. (Now if only I could afford a nice big screen TV.)
For more information on what DVDs are currently available check out Laserviews. They have an extremely up-to-date complete list of all DVDs released.
The other thing going on in my life is my renewed interest in Anime. There are some really fantastic anime shows out there that I don't think anybody should miss. You owe it to yourself to go find a store that rents the "Here is Greenwood" series, "Neon Genesis: Evangelion" and every "Ranma 1/2" you can possibly find. Now if only more of these would come out on DVD I'd be one happy technophile!

Hey there! When you pay for something you expect that it should belong to you, right? Well that may not be the case for long. Picture this: you go out and buy a nifty new movie on a shiny new disk. But you only get to watch it for 48 hours. After that you have to pay for it AGAIN if you want to watch it, even though you have the disk right there in your very own living room. Sound like you're getting ripped off? Well damn strait you are.
So say NO! to DIVX. Click on the "No DIVX" button to learn more.

Astonishing though it may seem to many of you out there it is my birthday again today. I have turned twenty six, and am now well on my way into my second quarter of a century on this earth. To celebrate I'm using Quoole to create new Quake II levels. If you haven't got Quake II and a VooDoo card yet, well run out there and get them. Now. Consider them a birthday gift.
Check out these cards from my loving famly:
First card.
Second card.
Third card.

It's a sad day for the internet today. The Unofficial Nintendo 64 Headquarters is, as of today, no more. We can only hope and pray now that with the addition of Peer to their staff N64.com can one day rise to the level of excellence that N64hq had achieved. Scott, I miss you already.
Woah! Plenty of updates this week! For a limited time only (unless I can free up more server space somehow) you can now take a guided tour of my new Bryn Mawr apartment.(Note: Removed for server space.)
I've also uploaded pictures from Halloween night as promised. (Note: Removed for server space.)
The bells are indeed ringing! Today, the 11th of November 1997, is exactly the second anniversary of the very first time Amanda and I kissed. It has been two years since we went from the state of being "just good friends" to "going out." Two years.
To celebrate we have got tickets to see They Might Be Giants over at Haverford. So there's plenty happening around here to be happy about. Love y'all. See you next week.

Well. So. The move is over. Halloween weekend is past. I can look forward to a week of hard work in the World Wide Web and you, my loyal readers, will find there's not much news this week.
The odd symbol you see above is the mark of the all powerful Dycaro. Bow down before him. Or you could just send him e-mail if you want to. dycaro@world.std.com
As of this writing it's only a couple of days away from Halloween. I've got my pantyose and an extremely tight dress I got at the local thrift store. As long as I don't breathe in or sit down things should be fine. Are you ready? "A long time ago, in a glaxy far, far away, god said 'LET THERE BE LIPS!'"
Expect pictures as soon as I can get the film developed.
The wonderful folks over the pond at Rare have recently provided N64 owners the world over with reason to rejoyce. Goldeneye 007. Quite simply the greatest first-person shooter ever written. Indeed it's so good that while playing with the Quake 2 test release this morning I was constantly disappointed at missing features. Everything from the stunning animation to the challenge of multiple mission goals have resulted in a game beyond compare. This (and not, supprisingly, Quake 2) is the new benchmark for 3-D gaming. But don't take my word for it!
Of course you should still go out and download the Quake 2 test. Check at id Software's homepage. This game would really rock if I had a GL compatable 3-D card. In the truely astonishingly superior GL mode I can play at a blazing 5 frames per minute!
Also note that I have moved coporealy. I have transported myself to Bryn Mawr, PA, where I now live with my two cats and my P200 MMX computer in the world's greatest apartment. Expect a graphical guided tour early next month. For now my mailing address is:
Andrew Wheat
275 So. Bryn Mawr Ave.
