We love our pets! On this page we'll describe them and their special place in our lives.
Shadow...
Shadow is our lovable All-American short-hair. She has been with us over 10-years. She is, indeed, a full
part of the family.
She was brought into our home at about 8 weeks old, at the time that our dog, Shane, was not doing well.
She and he instantly hit it off, except for the "hiss" she gave him. He "put up" with her antics, never in the least
seemed annoyed with her. She often times would play with his tail and fall asleep next to him.
Her daily routine is: eat, sleep, use the litter box, eat, sleep, etc. She also walks on a leash.
Her favorite thing to do is hide. Thus how right we were to name her "Shadow." Of her favorite tricks is to "fall
down, go boom and roll-over."
She hides when company comes, and during evening hours sits with Dad between his legs.
Both Mom and Son were at first afraid that Dad would not want a cat, but how wrong they were. Shadow has turned
out to be Dad's "putty-tat."
Butterscotch...
One winter, a few years back, there came to our backyard this orange and white cat. He looked hungry and rather
dishelved. Mom, feeling for the cat, began putting out some food for it. He wouldn't let you get near him at first.
But after a week or so, he would allow you to pet him gently. At times, we would bring him in the garage and let him
stay in there overnight to keep him safe from the snow and cold. It wasn't long before that he was allowed in the house
at nite and favored the Mom. She was delighted.
Mom named him Butterscotch because of his coloring.
Shadow wasn't pleased with him at first, but used to tap him on the back when he came in the house and run like the devil.
Butterscotch was the complete gentleman. Never did he harm or hurt Shadow. We guess he was older than Shadow and
understood her playfulness.
Butterscotch became part of the family. He brought many hours of enjoyment to us. Sadly, three years
ago, he passed away. This left a slight void in us, including Shadow.
Shane
The most beloved of our pets has been our dog, Shane. He was a mixed Labrador-Shepard. We got him back in
1977 and he was apart of our family until he passed in 1994. What a wonderful dog he was.
He was truly very loving to the entire family. Never mean, always willing to play and be loved. He was wonderful
with our son. In fact, our son learned to walk by holding on to Shane's tail!!
We miss him dearly.
Half & Half
Half and Half, as he is affectionately called because of his colors, is our newest addition. It seems he has adopted
our deck as his new home. He came along while Oliver was commanding the deck, and soon his "youth" became too much for
Oliver. Half and Half now dominates the deck, much to the dislike of Shadow. Half always remains outside and comes
and goes as he wishes. He even has his own "hutch" to reside in. Mom used the extrea cat carrier as his place
to get out of the elements. Half and Half is a very likable and funny feline. And a joy to watch.
