Who: Since 1998, Grace Presbyterian Church has sought to bring the gospel of grace to the community
of Layton and its surrounding cities. Grace Church is a PCA (Presbyterian Church of America) denominational church – one of five PCA churches
planted in the entire state of Utah.
Why
Utah: Utah has 2.6 million people. The local Protestant/Evangelical
Christian population is well under 3 percent. This is a sharp contrast to the Egyptian Protestant/Evangelical population of
15 percent! Utah is a Mission Field where you can speak your native language, stay in the US, and have the opportunity, daily,
to explain to neighbors, co-workers and friends the liberating good news of God’s grace through Jesus.
What: While meeting in various temporary locations over the years, our leadership and members felt that
much more could be accomplished to bring souls to the Lord through a church-owned facility. A committee of faithful members
searched for a facility that could be purchased to house our services, Bible studies, and community activities. Until recently
the search had not been successful.
On March 22, 2009, Grace Church members voted unanimously to make an offer for the purchase of property and buildings from Trinity Lutheran Church in Layton, Utah. Trinity accepted our offer of $425,000 on April 19, 2009.
The facility will need some immediate upgrades which we plan to complete with our
existing building fund. For this reason, our facility investment committee is seeking to raise the entire purchase amount
through donations from church members and friends of Grace. This is a significant opportunity for Grace Church as a similar quality site with new
construction, landscaping, parking, and all other associated fees would cost $2.7M
We are very excited about the location
near a Junior High and Elementary School and just east of Interstate 15. We believe that the area will provide us with an
opportunity for our compassionate ministry outreach, as it is located within a residential neighborhood.
When:
We are seeking to raise the entire $425,000 by July 1st. It is our prayer that
we will be able to go to closing without having to borrow funds repaid by our operating contributions. We hope to complete
renovations of the facility and move to our new location by fall 2009.
How:
To meet the investment challenge for
this campaign, the Grace Presbyterian Facility Investment Campaign committee, pastors and church leaders are undertaking this
campaign to raise $425,000 from private sources. Gifts for the campaign may be paid in full by July 1 or pledged over a three-year
period from May 2009-May 2012. We will seek funds from within our own church membership,
regular attendees, friends of Grace Church, past members and visitors, other PCA churches in and out of Utah, and other mission-minded
churches and friends. We ask you to join us as we create a welcoming place for years to come.
