Work Experience
May/June and August-October 1996: Help Desk for AirTouch Cellular. Duties included fielding and redirecting of phone calls; maintenance of user accounts, printer, and computers; user management of cc:Mail; some in-house document processing. Systems supported included Sun Solaris, Windows 3.1, MacOS, and dumb terminals (WYSE and Citoh). Networking using NetWare 3.12.

November 1995: Graduate Assistant for San Diego State University Drama Department. Created database for indexing of materials (scripts, scores, books, magazines, and newspapers) owned by Musical Theatre Department using FileMaker Pro on Macintosh and Microsoft Works on PC.
April 1994-July 1994: Software Tester for Excalibur Technologies. Tested installation and usage of Electronic Filing Software on VAXen and Alpha computers running VMS and OpenVMS concentrating on installation procedure and ISO Latin-1 compatibility. Successful beta release occurred during stay.

January 1990 - present: Private Consulting. Have done work for various companies and organizations in the public and private sector including: Horizon Healthcare, First National Bank, Computer and Information Resources and Technology at the University of New Mexico, and the Retired Officer's Association. Projects included teaching and training of individuals in setup, analysis, programming; troubleshooting of equipment; technical writing; customer service; applications installations; and systems analysis.

November 1992 - July 1993: Computer Operator for Excel Temporary Agency. Have been sent to local businesses performing various duties in data entry including database administration, record-keeping, accounting, and computer setup.

February 1987 - November 1989: Computer Consultant for Computing Services of Harvey Mudd College. Duties included: running the VAX/VMS Help Desk, maintaining system integrity, monitoring system requirements and providing solutions, maintaining backups of the various VAXen computers, maintenance of the various printers including Printronix printers and Apple LaserWriters and ImageWriters, file handling, maintenance of terminal server network from both DEC/VT terminals and Macintosh, answering user's questions about the system, teaching and training of users in various packages on the system as well as general usage, fielding phone calls, redirecting questions to the proper authority, special projects, purchasing of manuals, monitoring of IBM PC and Macintosh labs.

Familiarity with various software programs including DEC DCL, VAX/VMS Mail, MATHLIB, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Adobe PageMaker, CorelDraw!, Eudora, cc:Mail, Netscape, Internet Explorer, Medusa, TeX , LaTeX, Texinfo, various TCP/IP programs (FTP, Telnet, etc.)

Helped with the digitizing of the Claremont Colleges map of the colleges using the Medusa CAD package.

Modified DVI-to-PostScript program and wrote on-line help for it at Harvey Mudd College.

VAX/VMS and various dialects of UNIX, Microsoft Windows, Window95, Windows NT, DOS, OS/2, and MacOS.

Wrote the student help manuals for the Macintosh and IBM PC labs at Harvey Mudd College and helped write the student help manuals for the TeX and LaTeX document preparation software at Harvey Mudd College.
