Hamilton's Club

Note: Hamilton's Club has closed!

How to get there:

From I-10, take exit # 103A onto Evangeline Throughway (Route Evangeline), a divided highway, heading South.   Continue South on Evangeline several miles through town to the 7th traffic light (I think) where Pinhook Road crosses.   This is a fairly big interesction with gas stations on three corners.    Turn right on Pinhook and travel several miles to the 4th traffic light past the Vermilonville River drawbridge.   This is where Verot School Road crosses.   There is a Shell station on the near right hand side.   Turn right on Verot School Road and proceed just under 2 miles.  You'll see Doug Ashby Lumber Company on the left.  Just beyond the road curves and you'll see Hamilton's Club on the right.

Hamilton's Club is a long, narrow and low white building situated in a grass field and has a lighted mobile sign out front that says "Hamilton's Club" and lists that weekend's bands.  There may be an attendant out front that will direct you where to park.

What to expect:

Smallish urban club w/ polished but springy wood floor and low ceilings.

A slightly older and more refined clientele than some of the rural Zydeco clubs.

Lots of tables and chairs offering good view of stage and dance floor.

Small, slightly elevated stage w/ wooden rail on the left wall.

Saloon-style bar in the back. Water available at $1.50 / bottle.

Admission is around $7, may be higher on festival weekends.

Generally open on Fridays and Saturdays.

There is no house band, although Zydeco Joe is a regular performer.

Music generally gets underway between 9:30 and 10 PM and can last until 2AM.

Seems to be a favorite place for many out-of-town dancers.
