How to get there:

From Lafayette, take I-10 East to the Breaux Bridge Exit # 109.  Turn right, heading South, onto LA 328 (Rees Street).  Proceed a mile or two into downtown Breaux Bridge until Rees ends and Ts into Bridge Street.  Turn right and proceed over the Breaux Bridge bridge - Pont Breaux.   Cafe Des Amis is two short blocks ahead on the left at the corner of Domengeaux Street.  Look for an old storefront with a bay window, an elevated covered sidewalk and wooden pillars out front.

If you arrive on a Saturday morning, the dead giveaway is a throng of people outside and Zydeco music wafting down the street.

What to expect:

A somewhat small, narrow old-time store converted into an upscale restaurant.

Small bay window area in front doubles as a bandstand.

The dance floor is anywhere you find it - between tables, and by the front counter.

Widely known for its "Zydeco Breakfast" on Saturday mornings, lasting until 1PM.

Outstanding South Louisiana cuisine - arrive at 7AM to get a table on Saturday!

Open Tuesday through Sunday.  Until 3PM on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday.  Until 10PM on Thrusday, Friday, and Saturday.
