Welcome to my Settlers of Catan Page. This page is still a bit new, so there
isn't much here yet. The most useful information here is in relation to the
computer implementations of Settlers of Catan.

Computer ImplementationsThere are two computer implementations of Settlers of Catan. One is a DOS program written in 1997 and the other is a Windows CD-ROM game that was released in 1999.The DOS Settlers GameThe DOS game was originally written in German in 1997 and translated into English in 1998. It has a simple interface that displays the entire map on the left side of the screen and the user input areas on the right side. This game is available at Kulkmann's G@meBox and is distributed as freeware. While the game was translated into English, neither the manuals nor the editor were. To compensate for this, I have written two manuals that explain how to play the game and write your own scenarios. These manuals are in standard text format and are written in English. The editor manual also translates any messages displayed by the editor (the interface for the editor is quite simple, so the language barrier is minor).
The Windows CD-ROM GameThe CD-ROM game is published by Ravensburger, a German game company. You can find a demo to this program at the funatics web site. I should warn you, though, that the demo is 56 Megabytes. The game sells for 109 DM (about $52 when I placed my order), including taxes and shipping to the U.S.
This implementaiton is only in German and the interface is more sophisticated
that the one in the DOS game. I have therefore written a tutorial review of
the game that is intended to give my impressions of the game and to help
English speakers to navigate through the program (I don't speak German, so
the language barrier isn't impenetrable).
