Pennsylvania State Records
US State Records are governed by two documents: “Rules for SSA State Soaring Records”, and the “FAI Sporting Code, Section 3”. The Sports Class Records are handicapped, using the Carl D. Herold (“CDH”) system.
There are a surprising number of classes of State Records (18) and each class has 24 members. To bring some order to this state of affairs, at once the bane of the record keeper, and the joy of the record setters, I have made use of Microsoft Excel. To ensure that users of the records documents are not obliged to use Excel, I have made it simple to view them with either Internet Explorer or with Netscape. To make it simple and convenient to make hard copy of any of the record classes, I have stored data for each and every class on a new page (some classes take more than one page).
For the moment, I am publishing just the bare outline of the records – record holder, the record, the ship, and the date. The source of the data is the previous State Record Keeper (The Gehrleins) to whom I am indebted. The credit is theirs, the errors mine.
As new flights are submitted to me, it is my intention to add links to, for instance the GPS trace, the pilot’s description, and anything else that might seem interesting.
Pick the class in which you are interested from the table below. This will jump to the tabulated records for that class. To pick any other class, hit the BACK button and make another pick. Where no record exists, I have grayed out the field. Those hungry for glory should go for the gray.
