BG is definitely the best team in the area. Next year they'll be even better because they start no seniors.
Lake Zurich has their top 8 players returning from a super-sectional qualifying team that lost 3 games last year.
BG is definitely the team the beat. Only 8 losses last year and only two have graduated while this year's starting line-up is 1 senior and 4 juniors.

Why people continue to overlook Andrew is beyond me. They 10-0, have a pt diff. of about 18 and are still improving. Look out at the state tournament! Go-Bolts

Fenwick will take State this year. They have an unbelievable front line and an awesome Freshman who's 6' 2 and and can play guard forward and center.They have a Junior transfer who's 6'4 and nationally ranked as a center.

ELITE EIGHT PREDICTIONS:Marshall has to be #1 because of the quality of their opponents. The real test of downstate vs Chicago area strength won't come until state tournament time. Sarah Larson of Galesburg is underrated by Chicago area sports writers but if Galesburg does well at state deserves to be player of the year. Watch out for downstate, Chicago.
Austin high school beat #1 ranked #3 ranked and #6 ranked in 2a. they won the great eight shootout
Lake Zurich will surprise many. Loyola very overrated.
BG is definitely the team to beat. Tom Dineen's choice to change the starting line-up from 3 junior guards, a junior center, and a senior guard to 2 junior guards a junior center, senior guard, and sophmore forward have made this team unstoppable. They haven't even come close to losing since. Plus the whole team will be back next year except starting guard Christy Compobasso and reserve Kim Hardt. The rest of the team is 3 sophomores and 8 juniors. Center Kendra Ryl is unstoppable. Triple-doubles are a walk in the park for her. Their 3 early losses were just a fluke. Now they're back and unbeatable. Don't let their 9-3 record fool you.
Galesburg has already been to state 3 years in a row and they graduated no one after losing in the quarterfinals to Loyola.
Check out the Galesburg-Maria game on 12/12 to get a sense of the strength of the downstate school vis a vis the Chicago area.
Finals should be between Loyola and Marshall. Everybody else is playing for 3rd place(barring injuries).
