Rowe Family Research

We are searching for the parents of Peter A. Rowe (b. 1824 in GA,  d. 1891 in Nassau Co, FL)  --  and of his brother Edward Rowe (b. 1818 in GA, d. 1894 in Baker Co, FL).

We have been told that Peter and Edward were born in Darien, McIntosh Co, GA  --  and so far, the only documentation we have that Peter was born in McIntosh Co is the Indian Wars Widow's Pension of Peter's 3rd wife, Sarah Ann Crews.  The 1820 Census lists only two Rowe families in McIntosh Co  --  Frederick and Samuel  --  but we have been unable to make a connection.  According to family lore and various Census reports, Peter and Edward's parents were from NC.  As a result, we are researching all of the Rowe families in FL, GA, SC, NC and VA.

Listed below are the Rowe families we are researching.    Each family was in Georgia during the early 1800's and we are hoping to find a connection to our great, great grandfather, Peter A. Rowe.

Florida Pioneers

Peter A. Rowe, Edward Rowe and Coleman Rowe are all listed on the 1845 First Statehood  Election Returns (Series 486, Florida State Archives), as voting in the first Florida statehood elections.  Peter voted in Orange Creek, Alachua County; Edward voted in Kirkland's Precinct, Nassau County; and Coleman voted in Micanopy, Alachua County.  Eligibility to vote included residency in the Florida Territory, thus establishing them as Florida Pioneers.  If you can successfully document your decadency from Peter, Edward or Coleman, you would be eligible to receive a Florida Pioneer Descendant's Certificate through the Florida State Genealogical Society, Inc.  For more information on the Florida Pioneer Descendant's Certification Program, Click Here.
