In Memory of Dwight Smith It is with great sadness that we must report the death
of our beloved classmate Dwight Smith. He lost his battle with cancer during the night of June 23.
Dwight, who has served as the photographer for the reunion committee for many years, was able to attend
our 50th reunion and told us how much he enjoyed seeing his old friends. Little did we know that this
would be the last time we could share our memories of the past with Dwight. Many of us grew up with
Dwight during our years at Monroe, West Junior and HHS and as Jay Bowen said, "We have another ambassador
in Heaven , be in Peace Dwight." Below is a picture of Dwight taken at the reunion. The funeral
service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at one of Dwight's favorite places, the Museum of Radio and Technology
in Huntington. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m Thursday at Reger Funeral Home. Dwight was a machnist.
His wife, Lillian Diane Withrow Smith, died several years ago.

What a reunion this was. Fifty years after graduation our class gathered in Huntington on
June 19 and 20 to celebrate. Memories flowed as many classmates who had not see each other for years
had an opportunity to recall the days at Huntington High School and to renew the friendships of a lifetime.
More than 150 persons attended Friday night's opening event at our old high school building that has
been well preserved as a community center. Our class photo was taken on the majestic front steps and
we all recalled the hundreds of times we had trudged up those same steps on the way to school. More
than 200 assembled Saturday night at the Ramada Inn for our reunion dinner dance. Our classmate, the
Rev. Jim Efaw gave a most moving tribute to those classmates who are no longer with us. A special exhibit,
shown on the memorial page of this website, paid honor to the 68 who have died. Following dinner,
it was time to really get ready to travel down memory lane as we danced to that great music of the 1950s.
We discovered anew that Frank Sinatra's music still has the ability to make one feel young again. A
special 50th Reunion Web Page is already under construction so we really need you to send us those
pictures you took at the reunion -- as well as any of pictures from our days at HHS. You can e-mail
them to the class mailboxs: hhs59@earthlink.net.
