Advanced certificates in Nutrition, Homeopathy, Acupuncture and stress management could also be made available to dentists and upper level dental students.
Three socially relevant programs could include combination DMD / MAcp, DMD / DC programs and DMD / ScD [applied nutrition] programs . The addition of acupuncture to the dental curriculum could bring enhancements to both dental anesthesia as well as treatment. A DC [or DO] combination would add to treatment options in both TMJ and maxiofacial subluxation syndromes affecting the teeth and surrounding areas. The applied nutrition option could add significant understanding of the role of nutrition in both treatment and research. An understanding of behavioral and psychosomatic aspects of dentisty could be added into the curriculum of all DMD programs. A DMD / PsyD might also be a conceivable option at a CAM oriented dental school.
