Companionship substitutes

Sex substitutes fall into four categories:

  1. life-size dolls, vibrators, and machinery that simulates an excited woman's movements
  2. audiovisual titillation, e.g. porno magazines, movies, sound recordings, and live shows, and "private" live shows (glass booths)
  3. physical contact short of intercourse, e.g. lap dances, friction dances
  4. Prostitutes

There also are some non-erotic companionship substitutes

  1. companionship for the sick and elderly (usually paid)
  2. simulated family

One news broadcast showed an elderly couple in Japan being visited by a "family" - complete with "children" and "grandchildren" and presents. Actually, it wasn't their family at all. The people who came to visit were all hired. And the whole episode cost approximately US$1000.

Is any such thing done in the USA or in any other country? I'm curious. I can see why someone who is sick and old would want such a thing. Are there other reasons why someone might?

Every heterosexual man has had experience with one of the above-mentioned sex substitutes. Which have you used, and what has been your experience? Is there one that floats your boat better than the others? If so, why?

Why are you using sex substitutes? Chances are that it's for one of four reasons: 1) You're unable to attract any kind of a woman, 2) you're in a temporary dry spell and are using it as a stopgap, or 3) you're in a long-term relationship with a libido mismatch. 4) There's no lack of a sexual relationship, but your wife/partner won't do the sex acts you want; or you have fantasized about something strange Which group do you fall in?

A few books have been written which list a whole lot more motives than the four above; but I think that these four are the most common; and the first three are the most legitimate.

If you ever avail yourself of sexual services (pornography, lap dances, friction dances, street prostitutes or house prostitutes), then you have a political agenda -- whether you realize it or not; i.e. you're labeled as "evil" by feminists and by religious organizations.

.. .. .. .. ... .. ... ... .

There are as many allegations of porno workers being mistreated as there are of prostitutes being victims. For every picture you download or even look at, a woman has to bare herself to a camera. This, in their eyes, makes you no less guilty of exploiting women than the guy who goes to a prostitute. Religious groups have strong grass-roots organizations that label the same things as somehow "corrupting the community's morals".

There also is a faction in the prostitutes' organizations, which promotes the idea that customers exploit miserable and abused women and therefore deserve to be jackrolled. Because of this, sexual services have become less available in many areas - and only at some risk to life and limb. So wouldn't it make sense for sexual services consumers to form an organization and do something about these developments?

Fortunately there also is a faction in the same prostitutes' organizations, which promotes the idea that sex workers provide a needed service -- and therefore deserve the same respect as the butcher, baker, and candle stick maker. I know someone who is firmly in the "friendlier" faction and is a friend of one such organization leader. But she told me in no uncertain terms that there is little to talk about, until I can deliver a group of men willing to stand and be counted.
