In late September of 1999, Michael, who was playing bass guitar for the band
"Chipper Dove" came to Smelly Egg with the idea of doing his own CD
project. With this, he also brought in some hot new songs in the modern rock
style he's been working on over the past year. This also included a new band
idea that he's been working on for this accustic style of modern music called
"Perish". We asked him if this was a sign on which way he wanted to go
with Chipper Dove. "Not at all" he stated after a brief pause. "Chipper Dove
is my rock and roll escape. Perish will be just what's inside my head, my own
little world sort of thing. I just want to do my own music the way I had
written and arranged it."
Michael had plans to continue to perform with Chipper Dove and work on his own projects
to get the sound that he's truly happy with. Two of his songs
("She Want's All Of My Money" and "Totally Lose Control") are on the CD "Power's On"
by Chipper Dove. Looking back at that project, Michael said that although he
was ok with the sound mix, he wished that he would have spent more time on the
arangements. Although he plays bass guitar on the CD, on "Totally Lose Control",
Michael performed and laid the tracks down for the guitar, bass, drums, lead and
back ground vocals, and later asked guitarist Craig Dragotta to do the lead
guitar track.
Michael, who moved from New Jersey last year and now lives in Virginia, had planned
to continue to work with Big Blue Meenie Studios' Mike Ward to do his
CD project. Hopefully that can happen and come to pass, but if not, studio's
in the Newport News and Virginia Beach area are being looked at.
"I perfer to work with Mike Ward because he knows what's he's doing in the
mixing room, and is in my budget if I have to produce this project myself."
Michael said about recording engineer Mike Ward seen pictured here working
on Michael song "Totally Lose Control". They were working on the CD project
"Power's On" which was started in the summer of 1998 and completed in March of
1999 with the release of the CD by "Chipper Dove".
So what are we to exspect from the new CD? Just have to wait and see. Some of
the songs titles that we might need to be on the look out for are Somebody's
Angel; The Shelf; Shadow; (I Hate This) Pouring Rain; Gone; Sit Down Girl;
Better Man; Moe, Moe The Paper Man; and Mental Situation to just name a few.
He may even do re-mixes
of She Wants All Of My Money and Totally Lose Control.
No one really knows at this time who will be performing on this album, but one
name that has popped up a couple times is that of Jim Henry of "Full
Circle", one of Cincinnati's hotest cover bands, and long time friend of
Michael. We're not sure when but hope that this project gets underway by the spring
of 2000, and hope to be released the first part of 2001.
