The Opium Eater And The Maiden Fair
Sky, the colour of hardwood ashes,
parking lot snow; ground,
the colour of smoke,
the colour of words and wasted breath,
of whispers, of dialtones, the colour of eyes;
your terminus, terminus eyes,
the colour of fields, the colour of
of telephones in darkened rooms,
the colour of sky.
"Goodbye, little Robin-Marie.
Don't try following me.
Don't cry, little Robin-Marie. ...
I know you're the last true love
I'll ever meet."
F. Pappalardi and G. Collins, "Nantucket Sleighride,"
from "Nantucket Sleighride," Mountain, Columbia, 1971.
Leslie West, Felix Pappalardi, Corky Laing, Steve Knight.
This poem was inspired by a poem "waste," written by Robin Sommo, posted in rec.arts.poems.
