"BRIDGES" from Virginia, North Carolina, Mississippi, and Texas
My BRIDGES family apparently descends from five brothers who migrated from Prince William County, Virginia to Central North Carolina in the mid
1750's. The brothers then migrated to different areas with at least two moving to Tyron County, North Carolina. They continued to live in this area
when it became Rutherford County, North Carolina. My ancestor, Aaron BRIDGES, who was born around 1777 married Elizabeth SMITH. Aaron appears
to have died around 1820, and Elizabeth raised her family on her own. Their son, John W. BRIDGES, who was born around 1814 in Rutherford County, NC married
Mary MOREHEAD in 1841. John and Mary migrated to Neshboda County, Mississippi with Mary's parents, David MOREHEAD and Sarah FORTUNE, around 1849. They later
settled in the Eastern part of Leake County, Mississippi. Both of John & Mary's sons, Minor Winn and Pleasant C. BRIDGES, were in the Civil War. Minor migrated
to Arkansas while his brother, Pleasant who was my ancestor, migrated to Hopkins County, Texas.
