The 1998 LA Car Show is in town and Hotshots Photo-Art
had a tip from our friend
Dean Kirsten of Dune Buggies
and HotVW's that we should be at the show on the Jan. 5th.
Dean is never wrong about happenings in the VW world. Sometimes we wonder
where he gets all the tips, but he won't give away those trade secrets.
We just refer to Dean as the Guru. In fact we
call him the Guru of knowledge of good and evil . . .
. . . good it was. The VW display was really stirring by the
time we got to the show. There was more clammering there than any
other display. Everyone and their brother(s) wanted to just sit in
the new Beetle. VW had interactive games, photos being taken with
the car, a ton of hoopla focusing on the rerelease of the Beetle. VW is going
to sell millions of Beetles. Even at the svelt 16,000+ price tag.
The other display that seemed to be stirring at the LA
Auto Show was the Chrysler/Dodge display. The Chrysler concept cars
shown here were really striking. The Phaeton shown here was the
coolest 4-door hardtop convertable we have ever seen. We also got a
great look at the Copperhead and its' futuristic design. Another
futuristic looking craft was the Mercedes LifeJet seen in a smaller
photo below. This fighter cockpit style 3 wheeled motorcycle
registered vehicle may be seen on the road by the year 2000. Can
you imagine going down the road and seeing this vehicle passing you.
