Elizabeth BLANTON 11 Sep. 1792;12 d. between 18 April11 and 7 May 180710 Mecklenburg Co., VA That John Stroud was the grandfather of Archibald STROUD seems certain.25 y-DNA, which is passed virtually unchanged from father to son has shown that an Archibald STROUD descendant is an exact 34/34 match with the modal haplotype of the BURTON family. This BURTON family itself is an exact match with the HATCHER family. The BURTON-HATCHER relationship is believed to have happened in the 1600s in the Chesterfield and Henrico Counties, Virginia area when a HATCHER male had a son by a BURTON female that then went by the surname BURTON. For Archibald STROUD to match the BURTON-HATCHER DNA, a male BURTON or HATCHER would have had a son by a female STROUD, that the child went by STROUD. Another possibility is that a BURTON or HATCHER child was raised by a STROUD family, and adopted the name STROUD. A DNA test of a descendant of John STROUD through his son Willis does not match with Archibald. Because of that, it is believed that Archibald's mother Lucinda was the daughter "Lucy" STROUD named in the 1776 will of John STROUD. There were no known HATCHER families in Mecklenburg County when Archibald was born, but there were several BURTONs. Given that fact, and that Archibald gave his eldest son the middle name Burton, Archibald's biological father is believed to be a BURTON.
