POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT Posted November 1, 1998 Multnomah County Library has immediate openings for full-time, part-time and on-call positions for Youth Librarians in our system libraries. Come and work for a great library. We are fully equipped with electronic resources and technology, a healthy materials budget, and an active staff training program. Professional duties include working on public service reference desks conducting reference and reader's advisory interviews; locating materials and sources of information; planning and implementing programs and training sessions of interest to young adults, children and families in the library and the community, including the use of special collections; and training and supervising other staff and volunteers for special projects. Other responsibilities include the selection and replacement of materials using collection development principles for patrons whose ages range from birth through high school. Project management experience is desired; and experience giving patron and staff training, especially in electronic resources, is a plus. Experience: Librarian 1: No experience is required. One year of professional librarian experience is desirable. Librarian 2: Requires two years of responsible professional librarian experience; AND Training: All applicants must have or be within 3 months of receiving an ALA accredited master's degree in library science, or equivalent. Salary & Benefits: $34,786 - $44,453 annually for full-time positions.
