Here you are, at my cyberhome. It's not flashy or anything like other homepages you might find. I like to design things to be low bandwidth and simple. While you're here, you can find out some stuff about me (if you care), some of the thing that turn my crank and some of the things that I'm involved in.

March 30, 2007: ME LaZerte Class of 1987! It's time for a reunion!

July 25, 2003: Well, Yaenette's decided that we shouldn't move to Raleigh after all. So we'll be staying put here in Charleston for the time being. Once school starts, she's looking forward to getting some more good lab experience in the lab she was working in over the summer.
June 25, 2003: Wow, it's been a really long time since I last updated this place...well, nothing really new to report. Weather.com has some new weather magnets for websites that are below. They look a little snazzier than the old ones, and the code for them is much simpler.
I've decided to hop onto the blogging bandwagon and have set up my own personal blog for your reading pleasure. It'll probably get updated more frequently than this place does.
In other news, it looks like I'll be moving to the Raleigh/Durham area in a couple of months. I'll be starting a new job at Duke University with the Digital Imaging Research Division in the Department of Radiology. Supposed to be starting there the first of October. It's going to be an exciting job change that I'm looking forward to.
May 16, 2003: Headed up to Toronto for Victoria Day weekend on a last minute spur of the moment trip. Went up there with my friend Mark, met my other friend Rick there, and we spent the weekend hanging out and having fun. The weekend included a road trip to Niagara Falls and some club hopping. There are some incriminating photos hosted on my friend Tom's website.
July 9, 2002: It's been a while since I last messed around with these pages. Nothing much new going on. Discovered a neat new site that attempts to connect people on the internet with each other in real life! Check it out, www.meetup.com. Enter your location and see what kinds of groups are meeting in your area! I've already got a couple of Meetups on my schedule, Slashdot Meetup, Star Trek Meetup and Expat Canadian Meetup. Sign up and find a meetup in your area!

June 26, 2002: Just discovered that a paper I wrote and had published in the Journal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics won an award! The paper, "Evaluation fo a Quality Control Phantom for Digital Chest Radiography" was published in the Spring 2001 issue of JACMP and won the RIT Award of Excellence For Best Diagnostic Imaging Paper. Thanks to JACMP and ACMP for the award and recognition!
May 29, 2001: Well, it's been a little over a month since the wedding and people are still telling us what a great event it was and how much fun they had. Life has settled down to about the same pace it was before all the wedding planning started. Check the wedding pages for updates and photos from the wedding and honeymoon!
July 18, 2000: Hey, all you Canadians in exile in the US! Missing your favourite candy bars and snacks that just aren't available in the US? Craving Smarties or Coffee Crisp bars? Need that Hickory Sticks fix? Gotta have a Crunchie bar? Now you can satisfy those cravings at Always Canadian, a new webstore that caters to transplanted Canadians missing their favourite foods. If you don't have anyone at home willing to send you care packages of snack foods, this is the next best thing.
7:00 AM, May 15, 2000: Walked across the street to the Executive West Hotel in Louisville KY for the ABR oral exam in Medical Physics. After a 30 minute orientation, the questioning started. The exam consisted of 5 30 minute sessions with 5 different examiners asking me questions on 5 different topics. All tough questions designed to test how much you know, but answerable if you know your stuff. Big emphasis on shielding and NCRP 49. Fortunately, I had a good 90 minute break after the first two sessions which gave me some time to wake up, grab some breakfast and collect my thoughts for the remaining 3 sessions. By noon, all the questioning was over and I was free to go. Not a minute to soon either. By the last session, I was starting to feel like the contents of my brain were going to dribble out.
May 21, 2000: Returned home from spending the weekend in Wilmington NC. Picked up the mail and there was the envelope from the ABR! Opened the envelope, and read the letter...I passed!!! Woohoo!! 3 years after taking the first exam and now I'm a board certified medical physicst.
Christmas 1999 marked a very monumental occasion. It was the very first time my parents and Yaenette's parents got to meet. We all converged in sunny Los Angeles, CA for the big Christmas family vacation involving a good portion of Yaenette's family and my parents. Fortunately everything went off very well and everybody got along fabulously. Check out the photo album from the Christmas dinner. I need another vacation to recover from it all now...
During my vacation, I rediscovered a couple of old food addictions to Corn Nuts and Jamaican beef patties. Unfortunately here in Charleston, I haven't been able to find any to satisfy my cravings. If anybody knows a good source for them (especially the Jamaican patties), by all means, e-mail me!
Life in Charleston SC is still going well. I love my new job, although it isn't quite as exciting as before. I'm enjoying the slower pace and the fact that my pager stays quiet. Summer's over, and the weather's cooled down quite a bit. Winters here are feeling very much like a cool fall back in Edmonton. I've lived through -40C and now I've gone to +40C, an 80C temperature span. I have to say, I much prefer the -40C. There are lots of things you can do to stay warm at -40C, but there isn't much you can do to stay cool at +40C.
others have already been here.
I spend a great deal of time (probably more than I should) on IRC as imabug in EFNET's #friendly or sometimes #clubhouse. If youre interested in some real-time interaction, you'll probably find me there.
I made my first trip to Chicago for the 1997 RSNA. Quite an exciting event, especially for a first timer. Here are some of my thoughts and observations.
