Family

It all begins with family...

Mary Rothaermel Iannone is my wife, lover, best friend, and teacher. Mary and I met at the Severance Athletic Club in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.

We were married in 1990 at the Hillbrook Club in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Following a beautiful wedding, we spent our honeymoon in Paris and Nice, France. Travel has always been as important aspect of our life together.

Mary has worked for the Cleveland Clinic for over 20 years in administration. Recently she was promoted to the position of Administrator of the Division of Surgery, which has 19 departments and 2,300 employees.

Mary loves flower gardening, animals (especially our three kittens), children, Nature, traveling, exercising, biking, reading, quiet evenings at home, and fun parties with friends and family.

Mary and I have enjoyed many special vacations together. Some of our favorite places are: Amelia Island Plantation; Boulders, Carefree, Arizona; Highland Inn, Carmel, California; Chicago, and many other places.

Mary was born in East Cleveland, Ohio, where her family lived for two generations until the late 1960s. Mary graduated from Shaw High School and Bowling Green State University. Mary's Mom, Ginny Rothaermel, lives nearby. Her Dad, Ken, died in 1999. Mary's brother Fred lives with his family in Charleston, South Carolina.

Jeffrey Aaron Iannone is my 29-year old son. He is a graduate of Cleveland Heights High School.

Jeff is studying Biology and Pre-Denistry at Hiram University. Jeff recently returned from a study trip to Trinidad, where we studied the country's music, art, history, natural environment, and culture.

Jeff has one son, Evan, who is eleven years old. Read more about Evan below.

Jeff is a state and nationally certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and works with the Parkman Fire Department in Parkman, Ohio. Prior to becoming an EMT, Jeff ran his own landscaping and landscape design business.

Jeff enjoys painting, hunting, and going to the beach in his spare time, which is scarce given his busy schedule.

Mechanical ability skips generations. It skipped me. Jeff inherited my Dad's abilities in this arena.

Jason Roger Iannone is my 25-year old son. He is a graduate of Trinity High School in the Cleveland area.

Jason is a studying Computer Science at the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio. Jason has always had an interest in computers. I recall as a young child his fascination with "electrical things." This same interest has carried over to "electronic things."

Jason is a manager at the Federal Express Hub in Richfield, Ohio. He has worked for the company for five years, starting out in their Toledo operation center.

Jason enjoys working out, playing the guitar, going to the beach, and things related to computers. Like Jeff, Jason has a busy schedule so spare time is scarce.

When your computer breaks, who do you call? Jason!

Evan Cerne-Iannone is my 11-year old grandson. Evan is my oldest son Jeff's son.

Evan is a fifth grader. He enjoys school, especially history. He likes sports. We better watch out; he has been working at his tennis game.
Like most fifth graders, electronic games rank high on his radar screen.

Evan has a real passion for "baseball." His grasp of the game and its statistics is mind-boggling to say the least. He can quote stats for players from the early 20th Century.

And yes, he shares my passion for baseball card collecting. His card collection expanded this Christmas with the addition of several cards from the 1950s and 1960s.

Donald L. Iannone is my father. Dad was born in 1922 in Benwood, West Virginia. On January 1, he turned 84 years old.

Dad has transformed himself since his retirement in the late 1980s. He has stepped up his poetry writing in recent years. Dad and his wife Geri (Sheffield) volunteer at their church, the local library, and the city visitor center in Tupelo, Mississippi, where they reside. They live a philosophy of giving back to the community. Dad and Geri enjoy travel and many other interests.

For most of his career, Dad "healed" transportation equipment and industrial machines. He worked as an auto mechanic right after World War II. Then in the early 1950s,  he became a maintenance mechanic and millwright for the Sylvania Electric Company in Wheeling, WV. Dad worked in transportation equipment repair during the latter decade of his work life.

Dad was one of eight children in his family. When times were tough during the Depression, Dad willingly worked and helped to provide for his family. When asked about his generosity, Dad replies "we have to do what we have to do in life."

Diana (Iannone) Lancaster is my younger sister (4 years younger than me). "Dee" lives in Tupelo, Mississippi with her husband David and their children Melissa, Scot, and Nick.

Dee sees her first job as being a homemaker. She and David enjoy their wonderful family and home. The latest member, Abby, was added just over a year ago.

Diana is very active in her local church, where she is a leader with a lay ministry. She attends seminars and conferences across the country on spiritual growth.

David is a Vice President at Hancock Fabrics, which is headquartered in Tupelo. He has worked for the company in various capacities, starting as a clerk at a Hancock Fabric retail store in Tucson, Arizona during his high school years.

Look for a photo of Dee soon.

Douglas W. Iannone is my younger brother (13 years younger than me). Doug lives in Oklahoma City with his wife Becki and their two daughters, Sara and Sami.

Doug originally moved to Oklahoma City to attend Bethany Nazarene College in the mid 1980s. Oklahoma City has been his home ever since.

Doug works for Yale Material Handling Corporation, where he is the national account manager for Yale's Wal-Mart account.

Doug and Becki are active with their two daughters, their church, and various other activities.

Doug and Becki are an un[paralleled couple: Doug is a die-hard Steelers fan and Becki is a die-hard Packers fan.

Look for a photo of Doug soon.
