Friends

My life has been blessed with some very good friends that have had a powerful impact on my life. I am thankful for them.

Derk Janssen is a dear friend, spiritual teacher, poet, and marketing consultant. Derk and I first met in 1969 at the University of Arizona. We were college roommates (Yavapai Hall , Park-Adams Apartments, and other places) and enjoyed many great times together.

Derk and I kind of lost track of each other for about twenty years, and then reconnected in the early 1990s during one of our visits to Arizona.

Derk lives in Prescott, Arizona, where he worked for many years as the Director of Student Affairs and Marketing at Prescott College for many years. Now he consults with clients on marketing and strategic planning issues, cares for Arizona's natural habitat, writes poetry and books, and uses his Jungian psychology and astrological analysis skills to coach people back to reality.

Dan Shimp is a dear friend who lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Dan is a spiritual teacher with extensive training in Tibetan Buddhism.

Dan and I were childhood friends in Martins Ferry, Ohio, where we were born and spent our early childhood years. Dan's family moved to southern California, but Dan (Danny) returned to Martins Ferry during the summer months, during which we played together from sun up to sun down.

Dan and I lost track of each other for over 40 years. Then one cold February day in 2003, Dan found my Conscious Living website by accident (of course there are no accidents in life) and contacted me. Ever since then, we stepped back into a deep friendship that has had a dramatic impact on my life.

Dan has a blog called Anonymous Dharma. It is full of wisdom and insights about spiritual growth and philosophy. Check it out.
