So where is the "house of the water sign"? : Astrology and The Moody Blues' Strange Times

Warning - Astrology was only ever a hobby for me; I am not a professional, and much of this is from memory. Take this all for what it is worth!

The houses

At any given point, a sign is rising on the horizon. This is important for two reasons: it gives the Ascendant and thus a good hint to the inner self, and the degree determines the Houses. (There are several ways of determining the Houses, but that's outside the scope of this page.)

The houses are related to the signs, but it is not a direct relationship. There can be, and often is, an overlap of houses and signs.

For example, when I was born Virgo 16 was rising. That gives me a Virgo ascendant. It also means that the first house in my birth chart runs from Virgo 16 to Libra 15, and the second runs from Libra 16 to Scorpio 15, and so on. I now tell you that my Sun is in the ninth house. What Sign is it in? You can't tell. It could be either Taurus or Gemini, and the best you could do is make a fairly safe guess that I was born in May.

As I mentioned, the houses are related to the signs:
First house (Aries) - psychological motivation
Second house (Taurus) - emotions, possessions
Third house (Gemini) - siblings, early education
Fourth house (Cancer) - home life, especially the mother
Fifth house (Leo) - adventure, risk-taking
Sixth house (Virgo) - health, minutiae of daily life
Seventh house (Libra) - partnership, relationships
Eighth house (Scorpio) - sex, money, death
Ninth house (Sagittarius) - travel, higher education
Tenth house (Capricorn) - ambition
Eleventh house (Aquarius) - friendship, humanitarian concerns
Twelfth house (Pisces) - faith, escapism
