Cool Pictures from Arizona

Cool PicTureS from AriZonA

Howdy folks!! These are some pictures taken in the Great Sonoran Desert near Phoenix, Arizona.

Group of Saguaros

The Giant Saguaro grows only an inch or so per year and can get as tall as 60 feet. It has a very shallow root structure that covers a large surface area. During one of the infrequent rainfalls in the desert, the saguaro's shallow roots quickly soak up the precious moisture. It's body will then "plump out" contentedly, rather like we do after a few beers.

Superstition Mountains

The Superstition Mountains loom on the easter frontier of the Phoenix Valley. Many intrigues and massacres were carried out in these shadowy mountains as the struggle for gold and territory unfolded over the last few centuries.

Blossoming Aloes

The Aloe Vera plant, shown to the right in its full springtime blossom, has been used for centuries as a "healing plant." It has been used to treat sunburns, stomach ulcers, intestinal problems, arthritis, and a host of other ailments. Scientists have found over 2000 different chemical compounds in the aloe.

Here are some newcomers to Arizona. Emerging Saaz

Nubile Nugget

These are emerging hops shoots I planted January 18th. They emerged about a month later and are growing vigorously skyward. (Spring comes early in the desert!)

Well, I hope you enjoyed your brief visit to Arizona. Please stop by again to discover further hoppenings!!
