People often ask me what I've learned about life, myself, or travelling on my journey. Here's a list of travel-related wisdom I've picked up while travelling.

1)  Much of the best travelling isn't fun....

2)  The hardest part about doing a big trek is getting the courage to leave....

3)  Travelling is not for the squeamish....

3A)  Travellers will become very familiar with their bodily functions....

4)  If you wait until you're ready to go on a long trek, you'll never leave. No one is ever ready to do this, just pick a day and go....

4A)  The purpose of a plan is not to guide you during your journey, it's to get you out the door....

5)  Everyone is interesting....

6)  Patience and decisiveness often work together....

7)  Keep reminding yourself that 'it's all good'....

8)  Kindness is only useful in the hands of the strong....

9)  The Dutch are the best!....

10)  Don't travel to find yourself, travel because you found yourself....

11)  Schedules are for gringos....

12)  When in Rome, do as the Romans; when in Amsterdam, do as you please!.... [joke!]
