1)  16-year-old boys giving up their seats on the bus to old people without having to be told.

2)  Ordinary people discussing politics (intelligently).

3)  They'll let you kill yourself--there is no fear of liability.

4)  Children aren't taught to be afraid of strangers.

5)  Cheek-kissing as a form of greeting.

6)  Women aren't afraid to be strong;

6A)  Women aren't afraid to be weak.

7)  The beautiful landscapes and colonial cities.

8)  Grandpa and grandma live at home until they die.

9)  Children are not shielded from and get to participate in the adult world.

10)  Street-side food stalls!

1)  People throwing trash out the windows of busses onto some of the most beautiful countryside in the world.

2)  The countless political assasinations.

3)  The aggresive stares.

4)  Casual cruelty to animals.

5)  The scarsity of fresh vegetables, quality wine, and hot showers.

6)  Mosquitos!

7)  Maintaining a false front even for family and friends.

8)  The grip of religious tradition.
