SOCIAL SCIENCES: ROOM 36 - DR. MARSH

History

The sixth grade curriculum covers ancient civilizations. Students use the text book Ancient World by McGraw Hill. The children supplement the text with study packets, projects, and videos. Students are assigned a project for each civilization studied. Some of the projects are early human research reports, Egyptian newspapers, Chinese kites, Greek vases, and a free choice Roman project.

History is integrated with art projects, writing assignments, and core literature. Gifted and high achieving students find history to be more enjoyable when they expand their knowledge through Internet research and the production of videos about the culture they are studying.
