EARTH SCIENCES:
ABALONE COVE INTERTIDAL RESEARCH

ONGOING RESULTS OF FIELD STUDIES AND INVESTIGATIONS RESULTS of TAPESTRY environmental grant field research

OUR INVESTIGATIONS AT ABALONE COVE

Eleven groups of five students each (A) perform plant(algae) and animal counts along a transect line at various within the cove's southern rocky-intertidal zones or (B)test ocean water for various chemicals and compounds and take temperature readings. The comparison of the results can be viewed by accessing sites below.

Our classes made three trips to Abalone Cove in 2000 - 2001.
Trip 'A' on December 8, 2000 (BLUE bars)
Trip 'B' on March 3, 2001 (GREEN bars)
Trip 'C' on April 27, 2001 (PURPLE bars)
The results of data collected on each trip can be viewed at the links below. For the counts of the organisms, all organism found are compiled as a total count on each graph.
