There are many files available for download from Iomega. A clear description of the contents and proper use of each file isn't always provided, so I'll attempt to explain what a few of these files are and how they could be used. For the most part, I'm not going to discuss files which would be found via the software download link at their website. Instead, I'll include information on some of the older but still potentially useful files.

Files From Iomega's FTP Site

• w32_iom221a_en.exe: This is the latest full version of IomegaWare (v2.2.1) which can be downloaded. This file also contains Iomega Backup (1-Step Backup & The Works), QuikSync, and Copy Machine - all of which are optional at installation time. This is a 15.2 MB download. After downloading it, you can simply run it to start the installation. However, it would probably be best to uninstall any existing Iomega software first.
  
  After installing this software, check your Windows\Temp directory. I had nearly 10 MB of leftover files in an Io20 subdirectory after I installed it. Also, look in Device Manager under SCSI controllers. If you find any Iomega parallel port interfaces there for drives which you don't have installed (a Clik or a PP Zip), you should probably remove them (it might even be a good idea to do this from Safe Mode in case they don't show up in normal mode).
  
  
• win9x_iom113_en.exe: This is IomegaWare v1.13. It also includes Iomega Copy Machine, and the installation routine gives you the option of installing that. Additional Iomega utilities can be downloaded and installed separately following the installation of this file. After uninstalling any existing Iomega software, simply run this file to install it.
  
  One reason for using this file is if you want to use Iomega's Findit utility which no longer seems to work with IomegaWare 2.x (but it won't work if you have MSIE 5.x either).
  
  
• Backup.exe: This is 1-Step Backup v5.3. Running Backup.exe will install it into the directory with the other Iomega software, and shortcuts for it will be placed in the IomegaWare folder on the Start menu with the other Iomega Shortcuts. If you want to use this file, you should probably install win9x_iom113_en.exe first.
  
  
• Ditto98.exe: This contains Iomega Backup 98. It has more features than 1-Step Backup, and it can be used with Zip and Jaz drives instead of (or in addition to) 1-Step Backup - even if you don't have a Ditto drive.
  
  Running Ditto98.exe will extract files temporarily into a Windows\Desktop\Iomega Backup 98 folder and then proceed with the installation. The installation should place an Iomega Backup folder on the Start menu, and the program files will go into a Program Files\Iomega\Backup directory. When the installation is complete, you should delete the new desktop folder as it contains about 7 MB of files that you'll no longer need. Also, if you don't register your drive, you'll probably want to remove the line in Win.ini which loads Remind.exe. Find the line in Win.ini which references Remind.exe, and delete everything on that line following load=.
  
  I don't have a Ditto drive, and when I first ran this program, it locked up the computer while searching for one. I had to press the computer's reset button to continue. After reading the Readme.txt file, I manually installed a Ditto Dash via Add New Hardware in the Control Panel and restarted Windows. Although Device Manager reported that it wasn't working properly (since I didn't actually have one), it allowed the program to start properly. Once the program had started successfully, I was able to remove the Ditto Dash from Device Manager; and it continued to start properly on subsequent attempts. I haven't had such problems when installing this software on newer systems.
  
  
• findity2k.exe: This is a y2k-compliant version of Iomega's Findit utility. Apparently, it can be installed on top of an older version of Findit to upgrade it (I tested it with an old Tools95 v5.2 installation, and it seemed to work fine). Or it can install Findit from scratch after IomegaWare v1.13 has been installed. It doesn't seem to work with IomegaWare 2.x (or 1.0), and a number of people have reported that it crashes when they click on the "+" to browse a directory listing (this may only be a problem on systems with MSIE 5.x installed).
  
  

  If you have trouble with Findit, you can find a shareware alternative here.

• Ioware9xdrv.exe: This is a basic set of Win9x drivers (although it doesn't have USB support). Running it will invoke Guest9x.exe and install these drivers.
  
  As far as I can tell, it's safe to install this on top of an existing Tools95 installation. It can update files such as Ppa3.mpd and Iomega.vxd (and probably others, when necessary) without disturbing the other Tools95 software. However, if you have any version of IomegaWare installed, then this would not be useful as a driver upgrade.
  
  This file could be placed on a floppy and run from there to install a parallel-port drive temporarily on other Win9x computers (when finished using the drive on that computer, you could then remove the Iomega Parallel Port Interface from Device Manager).
  
  
• 1stepup.exe: This is an upgrade for versions of 1-Step Backup prior to v5.3. You must have a pre-5.3 version of 1-Step Backup already installed to use this. Simply run 1stepup.exe to upgrade 1-Step Backup to v5.3.
  
  
• dos_551.exe: This is the latest version of the Iomega SCSI Software for DOS. You can run it under Win9x to start the WinZip Self-Extractor, and point it to a temporary directory in which it will unzip its contents into a Dosstuff subdirectory. But it must be installed while in DOS mode (not a Win9x DOS box). Look here for more information on installing and using it.
  
  
• dosdrvr.exe: This includes basic DOS drivers, Guest.exe, a copy of Manual.exe, and a couple of text help files.
