We left Charlene and Glen this morning and drove to Wilmington NC.  The drive was beautiful and very warm.  Hard to believe we were in icy rain and snow three days ago.  I never realized that North Carolina had so many swamps.  Beautiful in a kind of haunting and creepy way.

We're staying at the KOA which has a fenced dogpark.  The boys are really spoiled this trip!

The sign in the KOA office reads, "South Carolina State Law prohibits feeding alligators, common sense does too"

That kind of says it all...  We camped at an absolutely beautiful KOA in Mt. Pleasant South Carolina, staying as far away from the lake as we could.  The natives don't seem overly concerned, although we are repeatedly warned to not let our dogs go swimming.

We are definitely in a different world; the vegetation, the climate, the accents, the stores (Piggly Wiggly??).  It's hard to imagine we're all part of the same country.

Woke up to a lot of fog, strange sounding birds, and fish leaping in the air through the lake.  Chased by the alligators?

Off to Georgia...
