One more day to go!
Stamp packing

January 5th

We spent most of the day packing and tying up loose ends.  In the evening, thanks to Daisy Okas of the AKC, we were invited to the Animal Planet 'Celebrate the Dog' cocktail party at Crobar in Chelsea.  Stamp has been to parties at clubs before, but this was a first for Fleet.

Stamp and I had our picture taken for an article about local dogs going to the nationals, as did my friend Shelley and her PBGV, Flora Kate.

The highlight of the evening, for the dogs at least, was getting the gift bags as they left.  Squeaky toys and treats, what more could a dog want?

We somehow managed to pack three weeks worth of stuff into the car and have room for ourselves as well.  Stopped at the vet to get Fleet his rabies shot and we were off!

Arrived at my sister's house in Richmond for a lovely dessert.  The house is a little crowded with four Kelpies and our two Norfolks, not to mention five humans, but we're all fitting in somehow.

     Tired...

Despite the Christmas tree, it's WARM here!!

My sister arranged for us to use the agility field where she trains.  Stamp ran well, fast and accurately, actually keeping bars up and making contacts.  Fleet did a 'grown up' sized dogwalk for the first time, and also did a short sequence with front and rear crosses for the first time.  He was terrific!

After training we drove to Charlene Dunlap's place in Pittsboro NC.  We had a BLAST!!  Charlene and Glen are wonderful hosts, and had fixed beds for us in the training building which is really more of a dog's dream of a playground.  Stamp and Fleet could not believe their luck.

After a lovely dinner of Chinese food we spent the evening watching videos.  I had brought videos of Stamp learning to tightrope walk, and of Fleet being introduced to agility.  Charlene has just finished a new Poodle video, and it was wonderful.  I am a big fan of Charlene's Poodle tapes, they are so creative, and such wonderful showcases of what's possible in dog training.  I have a link to her site below.
