Projects
Three of my recent projects are the Darkstar UAV, the Commercial Remote
Sensing System (CRSS), and the A2100 Bus Program.
The Darkstar UAV
|
The Darkstar UAV is an autonomously piloted stealth reconnaissance
aircraft. The "U" stands for "unmanned". It is flown
entirely by computer, from takeoff through landing! If you are interested in other Skunk Works
aircraft, check out the
Skunk Works page.
IKONOS
|
The Commercial Remote Sensing System (CRSS) will "provide high resolution
black and white and multispectral digital imagery and other geographical
information products to commercial, civil and government customers".
It will be the world's first commercial satellite that will provide images
with 1 meter resolution. The Metro recently wrote up a
news article on it and other remote sensing satellites.
If you are interested in ordering pictures, check
out Space Imaging.
They call CRSS "Ikonos". If you are interested in how satellites
are built, check out the Tech Museum of Innovation. This site was put together with
the help of Lockheed. You'll see CRSS there as an example of a
remote sensing
satellite, and also as a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite.
A2100 Commercial Satellite
|
I recently took a new assignment on the
A2100 Bus Program.
It is a part of Commercial Space Systems. This is the first time I've worked in mass production since university. I was the lead software engineer
for GE-7, 8,
and 9 programs. They provide phone, telemedicine, and radio service to Alaska and Hawai`i. Right now I'm the
lead for Newskies 6. It will provide an
internet link to the Middle East, India, China, Australia, parts of Africa, and the South Pacific.
I'm having a blast!
