Appreciate the ones who are still with us
Every year firefighters and police officers are killed or injured in the course of doing their jobs.They go to work every day knowing that their lives could be endangered at any time.
Their work goes beyond responding to emergencies.
It includes enforcement of law and safety regulations.
It includes educating the public.
It includes the mundane tasks of maintaining their equipment and updating records.
It includes always being a diplomat, no matter how hard a day they might be having.
We usually take them for granted, and sometimes we think they are getting in our way.
Let's remember to at least be polite.
Let's remember to thank them for doing their job,
whenever we have a chance.
