Banker family of Ohio and Indiana

BANKER FAMILY of Ohio and Indiana

There is another family of Bankers living in the Butler and Preble Counties area of Ohio.

Since the Small family had been in that area before back-tracking to Cuyahoga Co, Ohio, there could be some connection. However, there seems to be nowhere to fit a Miles into any of the existing genealogies.

Banker Family

Miles Banker married 15 Feb 1838 Cuyahoga Co, Ohio Catherine Small, who was born 21 Dec 1812 Bowdion, Sagadahoc, Maine.

She was married as Catherine Small, but she had a son at that time. This son was Daniel Lafayette Fuller, born 30 Jan 1833 Ohio. Why she did not use the name Fuller is unknown.

Miles and Catherine are noted in the History of Allen County, Indiana, as having lived in the New Haven area.

They are not located in the 1850 census, but her three youngest children are living with her 1st cousin, Purington Small, in the 1860, in Jefferson Twp, Allen Co, IN, page 628. The three children are reported as Fullers, not Bankers, which is an error.

I-1 Daniel Lafayette Fuller, b 30 Jan 1833 OH (father unknown) He had daughters, Lida and Maggie.

I-2 Joseph Banker, born Feb 1840 IN, d abt 1901 at age 60, married 13 May 1866 Delilah Rook in    Adams Co, IN, daughter of Michael and Polly Rook.

1860 census , Delilah shows with her parents
1870 census , Joseph and Delilah are in Preble Twp, Adams Co, IN, age 63. They have his sister Margaret Snider and niece Eliza Fuller with them. Also a Jennie Bonner, age 6
1880 census , they are not located 1900 census, Vernon, Jackson Co, IN, son William and family are living with them, he said his father born Ireland and mother in Scotland, his occupation was as a mason.

J-1 William L Banker, born June 1869 IN, married 1894 Susanna, born Sep 1876 IN. They married when he was 28 and she 17 years old.

1900 census Vernon, Jackson Co, IN, he and Susann have had 5 children, 3 living. He is working in a sawmill.
1910 census , 7th Ward of Louisville, Jefferson Co, KY, he is a saw filer in a sawmill
1920 census , they are living in Sycamore Twp, Hamilton Co, OH. William and daughter, Elva, are working in the paper mill
1930 census , Reading Twp, Hamilton Co, they have four children at home: Virgil, Leonard, William and Clara

K-1 Joseph W Banker, b Jan 1895 IN. He was a “tobacco stemmer” in the 1910 census in Jefferson Co, KY, he is not located in the 1930 census.

K-2 Virgil D Banker, b Feb 1897 IN. He is working in a paper factory in the 1900 census and 1920
      census Sycamore Twp, Hamilton Co, OH, with wife Christine, b 1898 KY. In his household are an
      aunt and cousin; Ema, b 1871 IN, John, 1903 IN. He could be the one who died Dec 1984
      Mineville, Warren Co, OH, born 22 Feb 1898.

I-3 John Anson Banker, b Dec 1843 IN, d abt 1925, over 82 years old, m 03 Dec 1865 Allen Co Clarissa Lipes, Book 6, p 217. Clarissa was daughter of Andrew Lipes, of Williamsport, Allen Co., who came there 1833 from Virginia. The family had the business of Lipes & Singmaster in Williamsport. Her sister married John E. Small. Mrs Banker is shown in her father's obituary in county history.

      p 332. She is with her bro Joseph in the 1870 census Preble Twp, Adams Co, IN. Lida,
      daughter of Daniel Fuller, wrote in her dairy that Maggie died at in Owasso.
