Why can't the KCBS Reps manage to educate the judges during the judges meeting?  Are they taking the time to explain the rules?  Would handouts with explanations about the scoring system and how to judge different meats help?  Do you still really think that scores are all over the board because some judges are still starting at 9?  I don't.  And I think the KCBS can do better.  See Rantings for more on this.

There are a small group of individuals that cook KCBS competitions that think the garnish should be eliminated from KCBS contests.  They want an empty box with just meat.  I feel that having the garnish rule good as it is challenges teams to provide a much more appealing presentation for judges and for the media that promote our contests.  See the Rantings page for more of my thoughts on this topic.

Looks like another 9 or 10 weeks before I can get this dumb knee brace off. See the Doc on the 8th and then I'll start therapy and trying to bend it again. That should be fun. I know what it's like having had 2 major surgeries on my left knee when I was younger. Expect it's going to be a little tougher on this 50+ year old body.

Looking forward to being able to walk a little. Then I can get friends to pull the Klose back into the drive and I can fire it up and cook. Got a full competition load of meat in the freezer just waiting to be cooked.
