Vertifirm (vertical firmness) is standing-up, fat-burning, muscle-strengthening choreography!
Vertifirm uses combinations in the choreography to replace the spot exercises formerly done on the floor. These "standing-up exercises" provide the benefits of floorwork, and because you are on your feet, it is possible to work on more than one muscle group at a time.
Because traditional floor exercises only work on isolated muscle groups and don't significantly raise your heart rate, they are not effective fat-burners. By taking these exercises off of the floor and combining them into dance movements, you get the muscle strengthening and toning of floorwork combined with the fat-burning capability of aerobics!
A lean, flat stomach requires strong abdominal muscles and the elimination of abdominal fat. It's not possible to effectively strengthen the abdominal muscles without lying down and working against gravity. So, we begin each class with several concise abdominal routines on the floor before we stand up and Vertifirm to attack abdominal and other excess fat.
