REPORT OF DR. ALICE TSAI:
Spring 2007 CSPMR District 1 Meeting
District 1 held
its Spring meeting on March 29, 2007 at the historic downtown
Los Angeles Athletic Club with a great turn out of local physicians and guests.
Among the special guests were the CEO of the Los Angeles County Medical
Association, Mr. Arthur Auer, and Executive Officer, Dr. Eileen Chun,
showing their support for the California Society of Physical Medicine and
Rehabilitation. Speaker for the evening was Dr. Ronald Takemoto on the
topic of Impairment Rating for the Low Back Pain According to the AMA
Guide Fifth Edition. After completing his residency in PM&R at UCI in
1987, Dr. Takemoto was in private practice for many years. He was at the
Sharp Rehabilitation Center in San
Diego until 2000. During that
time he
was also a volunteer faculty instructor in the Department of PM&R at UCI.
He then went to Albuquerque, New Mexico to learn interventional
spine
injections under the mentorship of Dr. Brian Delahoussaye, and returned to
his alma mater at the VA Long Beach Rehabilitation Medicine Department
in 2004. His current interests are outpatient musculoskeletal medicine and
interventional spine injections. He is the site director for resident education
at the VA Long Beach. He is board certified in Physical Medicine and
Rehabilitation, and in the subspecialty of Pain Medicine. He is also a
Qualified Medical Examiner for the State of California.Dr. Takemoto is a
member of several professional societies, including the American Medical
Association, American Academy of PM&R, Association of Academic
Physiatrists and the International Spine Injection Society. He has been a guest
oral examiner for the American Board of PM&R on 6 occasions.
