Independence Pass

We will be leaving Denver for the drive to Glenwood Springs, Colorado.

We will be driving up Turkey Creek Canyon to Conifer, and going over Red Hill Pass before a rest stop in Fairplay. Then we head across South Park, over Trout Creek Pass and into Buena Vista. We'll drive alongside the Arkansas River until we get to Twin Lakes. From there we'll climb over Independence Pass which, at an elevation of 12,095 feet is the second highest continuous paved road in Colorado. After a stop at the top of the pass, we'll descend the narrow twisty road to Aspen. From there we continue down the Roaring Fork Valley until we reach Glenwood Springs.

Glenwood Springs is famous for its hot springs and healthy climate, although neither did Doc Holliday much good!

After we settle in we can convene at Tequila's Mexican Restaurant. Those of you who were on the first Cruise Colorado may remember it (or not, depneding on your tequila intake). We'll also have plenty of time to explore the town or even take a dip in the world famous Hot Springs pool. There's plenty to do in Glenwood, including hiking up to see Doc Holliday's final resting place.
