From Kathy kkbmadvig3@cox.net (Chula Vista, CA) As of Sunday, August 22nd at 3:02AM, we had a new baby girl named Alyssa Grace. She came into the world four weeks early due to elevated uric acid, borderline low platelets and low amniotic fluid. She weighed 6 lbs 8 oz at birth and was 19 inches long. She and I came home from the hospital on Friday the 27th and are both doing great! We are so thrilled and feel so blessed to have her healthy and here with us! By the way, this is our last one! Pregnancy is way too stressful for us!
From Bri Bri.parkes.@uk.royalsun.com (Brighton, UK) After experiencing HELLP syndrome at 39 weeks in my previous pregnancy (delivering my son Jack by emergency c-section) I was delighted to deliver my second son, Joe, in March 2004 ..We were HELLP free this time, although I developed gestational diabetes (insulin controlled) & was c-sectioned again at 39 +5. I spent an anxious 39 weeks watching carefully for signs of HELLP but none occurred .. It was completely worth it! Thanks ...
From Brenda & Landon Hello, I have been a reader of your HELLP newsletter ever since I lost my son in 2001 to this disease at little over 20 weeks gestation. On July 23, 2004, I delivered a healthy baby boy at 37 weeks without any complications.
From Claudia pereirac@camerondiv.com (Brazil) My sister had the PE symptoms during the 6th month of her pregnancy, started to take aspirin. It didn't help much. My sister had to deliver her baby girl prematurely. She had 930g, very little and had to stay at ICU for 30 days, when unfortunately she didn't survive. The delivery was on March, 2nd 2003. Then my sister wanted to get pregnant again, and with the support of family and friends, she found a great gynecologist, a high risk pregnancies expert. She got pregnant in December, 2003. The doctor watched her very closely due to her prior experience. With 10 weeks, she went to a hematologist, and even with no problems on her test results, she started taking the medicine called CLEXANE - (Eparina) henoxaparina sódica 20mg - one shot daily. (0,2ml/shot) With 17 weeks, the uterus arteries incisures appeared. (the same she had on first pregnancy, and as far as we know, it is one of the signs of PE). Every 3 weeks, she would go to doctor for the Doppler test and when she started the 8th month, the Doppler test was done every 2 days to verify the placenta blood flow. On 33 weeks, the baby was not growing well. My sister had to rest all day, so the baby would get more weight. Other than that, my sister had no other symptoms of PE during this pregnancy. The cesarean happened August 25th, when my sister was 36 weeks of her pregnancy. Laura was born with 46cm and 2,455kg. She didn't need any special care, she was very healthy, her lungs were mature enough and they both went home just fine. I am very happy to share this story with you, and I hope it will help other families. Above all, we thank God for this blessing.
