From Melissa MVASWANI@scgov.net Just wanted to send a quick note, I am pregnant with my second child. I am only 8 weeks and very scared since I had HELLP at 33 weeks and delivered a premature baby July 25, 2002. Everything worked out last time, my daughter is an average 11 month old now. It is still scary to know what could happen. This time I will be more closely monitored. I am not seeing a high risk doctor since my OB diagnosed me last time and did a wonderful job monitoring me.
From Karen slaydenkw@aol.com (Nashville, TN) I have been following your newsletter since finding out we were pregnant with our 2nd child due in September. Our first child, Andrew, was delivered by emergency c-section at 33 weeks after my blood pressure soared and his heart rate kept dropping. Luckily my OB was very experienced and recognized the signs of HELLP and was able to deliver before my platelets dropped to 20,000. I was very scared upon finding out we were pregnant again (although we had been trying) and your newsletter was very comforting. I just wanted to let everyone know that we are now 31 weeks along in that 2nd pregnancy and no signs of HELLP in sight! I have been taking an aspirin a day and extra Folic Acid, and I hope that that is doing the trick to keep this baby on track and en-utero til the very end! I still feel nervous, especially as the dreaded 33 week mark approaches, but I hold hope that we will sail smoothly this time. Good luck to everyone else, and we will keep you posted!
From Terri tdowell1@msn.com (Littleton, CO) I have been receiving your news letter ever since I lost my son, Dylan Logan last February 2002, at 22 weeks. I am writing to you because I want to know how to send an update about my current pregnancy. I am officially 31 weeks pregnant and so far so good. They are planning to induce me at 38 weeks. I have been taking Lovenox twice a day for the entire pregnancy and that seems to be working. I just wanted to spread the cheer and let everyone know that there really is hope. Please let me know how I can share this wonderful news with everyone. Thank you for this wonderful web site.
From Jen jralph01@adelphia.net (Hampstead, MD) Just writing to say I am now 28 weeks with my 2nd pregnancy and everything is going well! I had my daughter at 26 weeks due to severe Pre-E and HELLP in April 2000. I go to the perinatal group that delivered my daughter once a week for checks on my weight, BP, and urine. They are treating me with an anti-coagulant because I showed two genetic mutations which could indicate a clotting disorder. After this baby is born, I will be tested to find out for sure if I have a clotting disorder. I am also taking extra folic acid and prenatals. I am just so thrilled to be having such a different experience with this pregnancy. Every time I go out I feel like I am almost getting away with something because I am not on bed rest or in the hospital. We are planning to take our 1st birthing class this Friday and I can't believe we will actually get the class this time!
From Janine dfitzt236@rogers.com I just thought that I would update everyone on our latest news. I am 10 weeks pregnant!. We are very excited and very nervous at the same time. We lost our first son to severe HELLP at 26 weeks in August 2001. I started taking baby aspirin at 6 weeks and I have my first doctor appointment this week. Hopefully at this appointment I will find out what will be different for us during this pregnancy. I know we will be going to the doctors more often, but how often I am not sure. I will keep you all updated.
From Grayson gcoale@hotmail.com (Rowayton, CT) Things are going well here. I am now 17 weeks pregnant and feeling fine. I changed doctors after my last pregnancy and now I feel a lot more comfortable with the care that I am receiving. They put me on a low dose aspirin for the duration of this pregnancy, however, it was very hard on my stomach. The doctor decided to take me off of it and just monitor me very closely, and I think he is pretty confident that anything will be caught soon enough this time. He also told me that he is going to try to give me a c-section at 38 weeks because I got HELLP at 36 weeks the first time. My little boy Charlie is having a great summer swimming etc. and I feel so lucky that everything worked out ok in the end. Have a great summer.
From Heidi hjsullivan@earthlink.net (Kansas City MO) I am 17 weeks into my second pregnancy and things are looking good. Praying for a HELLP-free pregnancy, of course! I had HELLP with our son 4 years ago. I did not have any symptoms until the day I delivered him at 41 weeks. I had to have 2 platelet transfusions at that time since my count dropped to 27,000. So I am a bit worried about not having had any symptoms last time. I think I will be induced a week or two early this time. Thank you for any prayers for a safe pregnancy!
From Claire Clairescopeland@aol.com Hello everyone! I have been too nervous to post our news before now. I am 34 weeks pregnant and am doing great. I have been taking a baby aspirin and extra calcium each day. My daughter was born at 31 weeks due to severe HELLP syndrome. She is doing great and is looking forward to meeting her baby brother September 26th. This web site has been so encouraging and helpful to me. Thanks. I will keep you posted. Claire
