From Jennifer waltke96@hotmail.com (Kalamazoo, MI) Hello everyone. I just wanted to share a happy update with you. On February 17, 2003 I gave birth to a girl, Audrey Grace, weighing in at 6 lb. 14 oz. and 20 1/2" long. She was born via c-section at 36.5 weeks due to PIH. Luckily that's as bad as it got this time. I previously lost my first daughter, Madison, at 23 weeks due to severe HELLP. Although she had a bad case of jaundice when she was born, Audrey is a very healthy baby. She's now 15 weeks old and weighs in at over 17 lbs and is more than 25" long. She's the size of an average 7 month old (so I've been told). She's also getting 3 teeth at the same time - ouch. I wanted to share my happy ending with all of you to hopefully give some hope for those of you who are thinking of trying again. I was watched very carefully by a perinatology group. I had a lot of fetal doppler ultrasounds and I took a baby aspirin every night starting at 11 weeks until I was delivered. If anyone has any questions about anything I went through, please feel free to email me at waltke96@hotmail.com
From Branden bbelford@san.rr.com (San Diego, CA) Hi! I live in San Diego, CA and just wanted to give everyone a happy update. On April 8, 2003 I gave birth via scheduled c-section to my second daughter McKenna. She weighed 7 lbs. 15 oz., and the pregnancy was completely preeclampsia and HELLP free!! My first daughter was born via emergency c-section in 2001 at 38 weeks due to my HELLP syndrome. My HELLP syndrome with the first baby was extremely severe and I had to have 2 platelet transfusions before they could perform the surgery!! This time around I did nothing special or precautionary with the pregnancy. My doctor and I treated it just as a normal pregnancy and all went perfectly well. My blood pressure never even elevated in the least. I was very scared to get pregnant again and was absolutely convinced that I would get HELLP again. I just wanted to tell this to people who are scared to have a second baby. Reading other people's success stories gave me the courage to do it again. Good luck to all!!
From Tracy tramajen@yahoo.com (UK) Hello everyone. I just wanted to let you all know that we have had a beautiful baby boy, born on 16th May at 2.45pm. I had an elective c-section at 39 weeks and baby Samuel weighed in at a massive 9lbs 10oz. This was my second pregnancy and I had no complications what so ever. My blood pressure stayed low throughout the pregnancy. Big sister Katie - who was born at 31weeks and weighed 2 lbs 13 oz due to HELLP - is very impressed with her big little brother! Take Care everyone
From Debbie and Shawn debbii2000@yahoo.com (Auburn, Maine) I last sent an update sometime in December to let you know that my husband and I were expecting our daughter at the end of March. Just to let you know, we are the beaming parents of little Reilley Evelyn who was born on 2/17/03 at 34 weeks by emergency c-section. She was a healthy 3 lbs 14 oz and 17 1/2 inches. Luckily, I had no signs of HELLP and had only mild preeclampsia in the weeks preceding the delivery...BUT this time I had a placental abruption, and had to be rushed by ambulance (again) to the hospital as an emergency. It was another traumatic end to another pregnancy full of being sick and on strict bed rest (not to mention seeing the doctor twice a week this time). In the end though, it was ALL worth it! In Sept of 1999 we lost our son, Sean Patrick to HELLP and severe preeclampsia at 24 weeks. We feel extremely blessed to have come out of this with a healthy child. Thank you very much for all the support, it is truly appreciated, and good luck to all the other parents out there such as ourselves, who were trying to have another child after HELLP.
Congratulations to Risa risathenurse@attbi.com (FL) on the birth of her second little miracle. She sent photos but no details.
