Our love and deepest sympathy goes to...
From Chris TILEMAN4YOU@AOL.COM On May 12, 2003 we lost our little girl- Kylie Sierra to HELLP Syndrome. My wife was 4 days past due and was seen by a midwife 2 days prior to this event. She had a plus 1 protein in her urine and a slight increase in blood pressure but no other symptoms. Midwife was concerned but not enough to induce as we requested. 48 hours later my wife developed bad pains in stomach then severe bleeding. We rushed her to the hospital but it was too late for my baby. My wife's liver enzymes went up and her platelets dropped to 24,000. They should be around 150,000. We were very worried but the doctors gave her two steroid shots and thank God everything started to improve. My wife is 38 years old and in perfect health prior to this. She did not even have one sick day during the whole pregnancy. We had no warnings or any knowledge that this catastrophic event was even possible. The doctors say that when her blood pressure soared due to HELLP syndrome that it abrupted the placenta immediately and our little princess ran out of air in minutes. Our princess was healthy in every way possible. She was full term and was 6 pounds and 21 inches. We are devastated by this and don't understand how this could happen. We are going to try again in September to get pregnant but would like all the information possible to prevent this from happening again. Can you please send us newsletters and give us any additional information that might help. Needless to say we are very scared. Thank you for anything you can do for us
From Kara ksvl07@yahoo.com (Cypress, TX) Unfortunately, the day after I sent you the e-mail announcing our pregnancy, I miscarried. It had nothing to do with HELLP... I was only 9 weeks. We discovered there was no heartbeat at our first visit--talk about complete shock and sadness. We've had some time to deal with things, and our son is helping to ease the pain by distracting us. I know that time will heal things, and I've got the support of a great group of people. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know what was happening. If there is anyone in the group who has gone thru this, please let them know I am available to talk. It seems to make things a little easier to talk about it with other women.
