From Bridget bridget_aon@yahoo.com My daughter has Rett Syndrome. It's a fairly newly founded genetic condition and it's very rare, about 1 in 15,000 births. If you have heard of this in other HELLP families please let me know - it's a long shot but with 2 rare conditions in 1 family I have to wonder.
From Charlene charlene8301@sbcglobal.net I had severe HELLP and my 15 month old son is having a lot of developmental delays. We are wondering if the delays could have anything to do with the HELLP? Has anyone else experienced this? If you know of anything please email me! I've researched and read that children of mothers that had pre-eclampsia and HELLP have a higher chance of problems with blood pressure and diabetes, but there isn't anything out there with detailed info about other issues. There is a lot of stuff wrong with my son and we just don't have any support groups outside of the internet. I am trying to find other moms who know what I am going through. Any help that you can send my way is appreciated! Thanks.
From Janna greggandjanna@comcast.net Thank you for all you do! I appreciate your dedication to helping all of us who have been affected by HELLP. I am almost 18 months post HELLP and my son Carter and I are doing great. You would never know that he was born under such dire circumstances - he is healthy, happy and very busy. We are blessed. Thank you again!
From Jennifer jt_davenport@yahoo.com I am a first time mother who developed HELLP Syndrome at the end of pregnancy. I had no symptoms other than severe upper right abdominal pain and within 48 hours my daughter was delivered with many complications. My husband and I are currently talking about getting pregnant again but I am having concerns about HELLP redeveloping. Could you please send me any information that might help me to be more prepared and informed? Thank you for your time, Editors Note: Jennifer later added that she miscarried at 9 weeks this past Dec/Jan and is waiting to begin trying again.
From Sarah skmvet@sbcglobal.net I developed HELLP at 38 weeks. I had no symptoms prior to the sudden bleeding the night of my son's delivery other than mild swelling of my ankles and hands. I'm not sure that even if I knew about HELLP or more about preeclampsia that I would have worried. My doctors sure didn't seem too concerned although I did have an ultrasound at 36 weeks to check on the baby's growth since I measured small. I'm really trying not to place blame on anyone... I'm a veterinarian, so I guess that makes 4 veterinarians that have suffered from this? You may post my e-mail on the website so others may contact me.
