From Candace
Candace.Reed@PenFed.org would like to be in touch with other moms who have had successful pregnancies so they can answer questions and give her additional support.  She is thinking about trying again.

From Aileen

aileenart@yahoo.com  I went in because after giving birth 9 months ago I have been bruising like crazy and have very bad headaches I went to the doctor and my ALT has shot up again. She has no idea why and never heard of HELLP. So I went to liver doc for a bunch of tests because after my birth liver enzymes were up and down but the only thing that came back was the Anti smooth muscle antibodies was positive. I'm not sure what that means.  I know I don't have Hep ABC. So after hearing back from the liver doc and he said he thinks its early stage of autoimmune hepatitis. I am so worried I called a Hematologist and they need to review my records before they take me as a patient because she had never heard of it I am so frustrated.  We live in a small town and its really hard to find doctors that even know what HELLP is. If you see anyone with similar thing happening, please update me.  I have been searching this web site but haven't found anything.

From Trish

triciamanning@msn.com  First of all, thank you for this website.  I was a HELLP patient with my son 4 yrs ago.  He is happy and healthy now.  I am also in better shape than I was before I had him.  It is interesting and helpful to hear the stories of others who experienced the same thing I did.  I am eager to find a buddy from your site.  I just found out I am pregnant with #2.  We are delighted but so nervous.  I am 7 weeks and already had an ultra sound.  Baby has a strong heartbeat and I feel great compared to first pregnancy.  Anyway, I am wondering if anyone else is in the same situation or recently gone through it.  Would love to hear encouragement and experiences from others.

I actually did have one more question to ask. Every day I get an "out of it" feeling, really heavy headed and dizzy feeling. I get really forgetful and spacey too. I don't know if this is from the Labetelol (high blood pressure med) that I'm on, or if it's from the high blood pressure or from the syndrome itself. All I know is that I have not felt good ever since I got all these postpartum problems. I have discussed this with my doctor, but I don't know if he really knows what I mean.

About Laura

laurawallis@bellsouth.net  I had postpartum depression after the birth of my twins in 1998.  I had HELLP Syndrome at the time of delivery.  I had a 21-month-old when I had the twins.  I nursed the twins simultaneously.  We stayed in the hospital for a week, because of my HELLP.   The twins were rather healthy, just one was low birth weight.  I am curious to see if other mothers who experienced HELLP Syndrome had postpartum depression.
