From Jennifer jentodd@comcast.net I am happy to announce the birth of my daughter Emily Kay on October 14, 2004. I developed preterm labor at 32 wks with this pregnancy. Fortunately, they were able to delay delivery until 35 wks. My Dr felt that the preterm labor was related to my small stature.....I am only 4 ft 8 inches tall. Emily was 6 lbs 2 oz and 20 inches at birth. She required some supplemental oxygen for a brief period of time but was discharged home several days later in good health. Once home she developed some problems with choking and apnea with feedings. She had to be readmitted to the hospital for four more days and was found to have severe reflux. Medication has helped and she is doing very well at home now. I had suffered from severe atypical Preeclampsia and HELLP Syndrome with my first pregnancy. I was taken by life flight for an emergency c-section at 34 wks with my first daughter. Fortunately, I had no preeclampsia or HELLP Syndrome with Emily. During this pregnancy I took a prenatal vitamin plus and additional 1mg of Folic acid because I was found to have a MTHFR mutation. It is amazing how different I feel post partum this time around! I want to thank the HELLP Syndrome Society for all of their information and support!!! I am so grateful that I was able to attend the HELLP Syndrome conference this summer.
