"...The HELLP Syndrome Society has performed a survey that suggests that after HELLP women do feel less well - both mentally and physically..."

Q:  I had HELLP syndrome in 1997. I am wondering if there have been follow-up studies or surveys done on women post HELLP say 5 years out. I am experiencing some vague and some not so vague symptoms and am interested to know if others are experiencing them also. Could you forward any studies you have to me? Or if there is a study in progress, know that I would be willing to be part of one. Thank you and have a great day.

A:  There is evidence that women who have had prior severe preeclampsia have a higher incidence of long term cardiovascular disease.  There is a higher incidence of autoimmune disease among women who have had HELLP, (probably the underlying cause of HELLP rather than as a result of it).

The HELLP Syndrome Society has performed a survey that suggests that after HELLP women do feel less well - both mentally and physically.
