From Jeanette
in Holland called to say that Michelle Fegley (who attended our 1998 HELLP Symposium) has had a beautiful baby girl, born 40 weeks' gestation and weighing 7 pounds, one ounce. Her name is Adele. Apparently no signs of HELLP, although she did have some swelling.

From Sarah
sarah.mark@ihug.co.nz (Auckland, New Zealand) This is a very very belated update! When I left work to go on one year's maternity leave I lost my email. Took awhile to get online at home. Birth update!!! Thrilled to announce the arrival of Molly Rose on 21st July 2002, 7lb 6 oz. Molly was almost 2 weeks late and there was absolutely no signs of HELLP this time round (severe HELLP at 37 weeks in first pregnancy). It was wonderful to experience a 'normal' birth (although long!) and even more enjoyable to spend the first three days with Molly (I missed this first time round as I was in ICU). Molly is a beautiful child, sleeps all night and smiles all day! Can't complain. Family is now complete. Would like to sincerely thank everyone at HELLP Syndrome Society. The support and especially the newsletters are just great. Would love to keep receiving newsletters and happy to be a support for anyone (especially members in New Zealand).

Babiesmake4@aol.com (Yorktown, VA) I delivered my daughter at 34 weeks on 10/23 due to severe Pre-E and what my Peri's "assumed" was progressing into HELLP (again) After 38 hours of failed labor, My daughter Sheridan Grace was born via C-Section. Both Mom and Baby are doing great. Sheridan spent only one week in the level 2 nursery and then she came home. She was admitted back into the hospital 2 weeks later for RSV but is back home now~very scary stuff. Thanks and take Care

KiKiTh@aol.com Hi, thanks so much for your email. I'm fine, in fact I gave birth to my son on Boxing Day, he only weighed 4lbs 15oz, but he's doing really well and so am I. I named him Brandon, and he's a real cutie! Thanks again for caring, and for the information that you sent me.

From Gill
smalley@cableinet.co.uk (Oakenshaw Redditch, England) My due date was November 30th, however our son was very content! I had a planned c-section on December 10th. Our son was born at 13:06 weighing 6 Lbs 11ozs. He is fantastic although very demanding and this is the first occasion I have had to even turn the computer on! I have been exceedingly well throughout this pregnancy and despite my blood pressure dramatically rising days before James arrived forcing me to make the decision to have another c-section, things have been so different. James is doing very well and is galloping the weight on rapidly! He is already the weight that his big sister was by the time she was 3 months old and he is only just 4 weeks old! He was just over double her birth weight so I suppose that stands to reason! Love and best wishes to you and all the team.

sbohlen@wideopenwest.com It is with great gladness and thankfulness that I send this email to you . I have been a follower of your website since my son, Finn was born at 34 weeks in 1999 after I developed a severe case of HELLP syndrome. I found your website to be a great source of information on this little talked about syndrome which affects many more women than we know. I am happy to share some outstanding news with you and hope that it will be a source of hope for other HELLP Syndrome survivors. On Friday, January 3, I delivered a 7 lb., 19 1/2 inches baby girl named Hannah Bethany without one symptom of HELLP syndrome, PIH or pre-eclampsia. My pregnancy was highly guarded by an outstanding high risk obstetrician who monitored me weekly from week 28. On the advice of my obstetrician I did not take any outstanding measures during my pregnancy (i.e. - baby aspirin, heparin, etc.) with the exception of purchasing a blood pressure cuff to monitor my condition on a daily basis. It is my personal belief that I have received a great healing from God and relied on many prayers from my family and friends, as well as my own. I truly give the glory to God and believe that Hannah Bethany ("gracious house of God") is a true gift from on High. Please share my story with other women so that they may grow strong in their pregnancy and not live in constant fear and doubt. There are some stories that end on a happy and healthy note.

Norris_Jennifer@emc.com (Uxbridge, MA) I am not really active on your site, but, I always read the newsletters and keep myself up to date. The reason for my email is to let you know I just delivered a full term perfectly healthy baby girl on 10/25/02. My first baby was delivered 6 weeks early due to severe preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome. I wanted to be added to any statistics your organization is keeping and let everyone know it's possible and to give others hope that you can have a normal pregnancy after HELLP (I had Class 2 HELLP). If you want any more information, I'll be happy to provide it. I am really busy with two little ones, but hope to become more active when I have more time, especially since I have a baby girl now and I will worry about her being affected by preeclampsia/HELLP if and when she decides to start a family of her own. I really appreciate all the work you and the others in the organization put into this newsletter and web site.

lvernillo@cainbrothers.com (Wantagh, NY) I contacted you a while ago. My third baby was stillborn to HELLP syndrome. I just wanted to send a follow up and you can put me on your list of subsequent pregnancy stories. We had a beautiful baby girl named Caitlyn on October 4, 2002. She is doing great. The doctors did take her two weeks early by c-section. My blood pressure creeped up a little near the end. All went well. It was a lot of work, though. Many blood tests and stress test and an amnio that didn't take. Post-partum, which is common for me, my blood pressure shot up high and remains on a rollercoaster for months. One day high, next day low. I am on procardia. We thank God we had a wonderful, happy outcome but we will forever miss our baby Sara who might have been saved had the doctors checked me for HELLP before it was too late. We will miss her forever. We are so grateful to have Caitlyn and her older brother and sister just adore her.
