BILLINGTON-BUSTAMANTE and LGEM The BILLINGTON-BUSTAMANTE flute and guitar duo performs popular music from a wide variety of styles - jazz, pop, latin, and classical - which meld together to form a cohesive, unique style. Their repertoire ranges from timeless standards such as Stormy Weather - to the bossa novas of Jobim - to the latest showtunes of Andrew Lloyd Webber. Popular classical tunes, such as Musetta's Waltz from Puccini's La Boheme, are also included in their musical repertoire. The flute, guitar, and percussion trio LGEM performs the same repertoire as the BILLINGTON-BUSTAMANTE duo. Percussionist Edwin Guerra, a native of Colombia, helps create an upbeat atmosphere that is suitable for larger gatherings. Canadian-born flutist Robert David Billington earned his BA degree from Northern Michigan University, his MM degree majoring in flute performance from Western Michigan University, and his DMA majoring in flute performance at the University of Miami. He has done post-graduate work at Ball State University and at the University of Illinois. Currently, Dr. Billington is a free-lance flutist in the South Florida area. He has taught at the University of Miami, Boise State University, the University of Illinois, the University of Louisville, the Louisville Academy of Music, and Ball State University. His collegiate flute teachers have included Dr. Elda Tate (Northern Michigan University), Dr. Charles Osborne (Western Michigan University), and Eugene Johnson (University of Miami). Dr. Billington has also studied privately with Bernard Goldberg, Donald Peck, Robert Aitken, James Pellerite, and Francis Fuge. In addition to having performed with numerous orchestras in the United States and in festivals in Europe, Dr. Billington has presented master classes in Trinidad, and has appeared as a soloist on Trinidad and Tobago Television. Peruvian-born guitarist Roger Bustamante earned his BM degree from the National Conservatory of Music in Peru, and earned his MM degree from Yale University while studying under a Fulbright Scholarship. He has also participated in postgraduate studies at the University of Miami. As a professional string bass player, Mr. Bustamante performs with the Symphony of the Americas, and has been the principal bassist of the National Symphony Orchestra of Peru, and has appeared as soloist with that organization. He has been a faculty member at Barry University and at Miami-Dade Community College, and has been the conductor of the Kendall Chamber Orchestra at the Dave and Mary Alper Jewish Community center. He currently is a music teacher for Dade County Public Schools. BILLINGTON-BUSTAMANTE AND LGEM TRIO REPERTOIRE
